Note: Requires the version of OMDB included with MSFS Premium Deluxe. You can try using it without this, but expect floating jetways and other weirdness!

This is a work in progress aimed at improving the quality of Asobo's OMDB. There are enough improvements and it's advanced enough that I'm comfortable sharing with the community, but please bear in mind that there's more work to be done.

Upcoming improvements

Please see the roadmap for additional planned improvements (dates are placeholders only, releases will come as and when I have time).

Main features

Runways: Added missing PAPI lights. Fixed runway approach lights on taxiways.
Layout: Updated to current layout as of June 2022. Removed closures on K and P. Major clean up of taxiway markings based on the latest satellite imagery (not Bing!).
Taxiway signs: Added taxiway signs, including intermediate holding points.
- Complete: all runway exits and the two most heavily used taxiways (K,M).
- More work on this might follow, but this is hugely time consuming so no promises.
Gates:
- Size and placement corrections, AIG A380s will now show. Correct airline gate assignments for AIG/AI traffic (thanks to Chris for giving me permisison to use his work as a base for this!).
- Gate numbers on the ground. Unforunately, nothing I can do to make these bigger as the size is hard coded by Asobo.
Static aircraft [Requires AIG Emirates models to be installed to show]: Parked EK A380s and 777s on Apron S and by the maintenance hangers. I have not included any static on the active aprons, to preserve their usability on VATSIM and with AIG.
Aprons: general clean up and refresh using the latest satellite imagery. Pulled back Aprons in a number of spots to reveal more of the aerial imagery.
Lighting: added lighting to multiple previously dark aprons, taxiway lighting improvements (WIP).

...and more random fixes here and there. Enjoy!

Thanks for your enhancement. Could you make a version of your mod with no or only few static aircrafts at the terminal to make it better usable with Vatsim? Thanks in advance.

Hi - the mod was specifically designed with VATSIM in mind. There is no static at the terminals, only on Apron S which is being used for long term aircraft storage in real life. What you see in the screenshots is all AIG offline traffic.

A fantastic enhancement to the premium deluxe OMDB. Thank you author. Would you consider fixing HECA (Cairo) deluxe version up a little too? The terrain is very inaccurate there as it's flat in the game but in real life the whole airport is sloped.

Thank you so much, I just upgraded to the premium edition recently, this was the first premium airport I landed on, and was really disappointed by lack of basic detail like gate numbers, you made this airport so much better.

Is there any way to add the gate numbers to the actual cube signs at the gates, or is that impossible because of the premiumness?

From what i know, no. It's only for the asobo version of the prem deluxe.

I like it a lot, it is definitely an improvement. I noticed a small imperfection. Based on google and other satellite images, the following gates: F11-F26R, do not correspond to the real gate numbers. The gate numbers should be like so:

F26R->F25, F25->F24, F24->F23, F23->F22, F22->F21, F21->F20, F20->F19, F19->F18,

F18->F17, F12->F13, F11->F12. (Again, based on the satellite images i saw.) As for the gates F13 & F17, there are no clear numbers, so i'll leave it to you. If you could apply these small changes to the gates i mentioned, it would be perfect.

Checked it and I can see what's going on - F11 needs to go (there's no F11), and F26R has accidentally been included as its own gate, shifting the rest to the right. Thanks again for spotting this, will upload a fix shortly.

dunno what i'm doing wrong, but no matter what happens the scenery won't load - every time i load in its the same premium deluxe airport,

ill continue troubleshooting, but if you know anything it would help!

AMAZING WORK!!!! I really do hope you continue to further develop OMDB and make it even better because the default version is a bit lacking.. some other things I would recommend you fix is the taxi way lighting and just making the lights as close to real life as possible 😊
