Note: For those using Navigraph there appears to be an issue where you see two runways overlapping each other. According to the Navigraph website this will hopefully be fixed in SU11

Also, cars crossing the runway is an issue with SU10 not with the scenery! hopefully, this will be fixed also in the next sim update

Added custom markings to the runway to be more accurate to  Kai Tak original.

Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be a fix on the cars crossing the runway yet

Basic AI aircraft file added. Ai Aircraft(if turned on) will now populate the airport, however be warned that MSFS AI is not the best and issues such as AI aircraft taxing the entire length of the runway or flying through city buildings I cannot fix. Hopefully these issues will change in a future game update.
AI will also only use runway 31 for takeoff's and landing's  🤷‍♂️

The long-promised SID and STARS have now been added natively as well as correctly programing the IGS and ILS for runways 13 and 31 respectively. you no longer have to manually add the ILG/IGS frequency in the FMC.

After many months of work version, 2.0 is here!

This was a near-complete rebuild of the entire airport (still a lot more to do)

New leadin approach light system.

90% of the buildings have been re-modelled and textured; this Includes the cargo building, maintenance hangers, fire stations and partial passenger terminal interior.

Well known Kai Tak advertising billboards included at the threshold of rwy13

New checkerboard.

Custom Apron lights.

Airfield height was raised to the correct height.

Road traffic driving across the runway and apron has been stopped.

the majority of random lights have now been removed. (a couple do remain, unknown why)

Signage and markings improved


I have not had time to add all SIDs and stars yet, (current file causes CTD so I have not included it)

If you use the ingame ATC for some reason it will always direct you to use rwy 31 for landings, I don't know why.

Don't forget to remove the previous version from the community folder.



Hong Kong Kai Tak with the famous runway 13 approach that closed in 1998,  little remains today of the original Airport with much of the site being redeveloped into housing and a cruise terminal. This scenery brings back that challenging approach passing low over the Kowloon district of Hong Kong the making a 47 degree right hand turn to line up with runway 13.

Extract the file ali50-Kaitak from ali501-kaitak.rar

Place file into the community folder

Remember this is a visual approach so disconnect auto pilot before Checkerboard hill to make the turn to line up with runway 13

Just to bring you up to speed..Scenery beautiful.. Still double runways for 13/31. I have Navigraph. I have a flight plan and maybe 2-3 aircraft showup and the airport is virtually dead. May be related to SU11.. Thank you and Greets!!! PS No cars on runway..lol

This is better than Asobo/MS version of Kai Tak in a few ways:

1) Checkerboard - Asobo version is outright wrong and unuseable, this is accurate for visual approach

2) Ground Markings - accurate and more visable with this

3) Approach Lighting - this is more visible approaching the Kowloon Tong area on the RWY 13 side

4) Building Details - shops texture are local Hong Kong shops; none in Asobo version.

Seems this crashes today after the latest update that came out today? It shows map on selecting airport but then crashes to desktop?

I have installed this Addon right now and i have some problems with overlapping Runway Textures and Texturebugs around the Runway. The Asobo Kai Tak was already removed. Another question: The ILS31 approach is shown in the FCM, the IGS13 is not. Is this supposted to be or do i need to modify some other files?

With this MSFS version upgrade, a hand-made Kaitak Airport was released from MSFS. It's a forced download. If you enter this ARI501 Kaitak Airport, a problem will occur. 

Doing the Checkerboard Hill approach has been a dream of mine in a flight sim for a long, long time. Thank you for recreating this legendary airport! 5 stars!

We are going from 3.3 to 3.2.3. Downwards ?

Runway lights still not working with latest version. Any tips? Great Scenery otherwise.

Cli4D Hong Kong scenery looks great but not compatible with ALi501 Kai Tak.

Airport looking great after the update. Always a pleasure flying into your Kai Tak scenery in MSFS. A big thank you for the work you have done!

However, would you please consider updating the location of the PAPIs on RWY13? They should be abeam the touch down aiming point (now they are just short of it). You may see the two photos I have attached for your reference. When they are not at the right positions, it is hard for pilots to judge whether we are high or low on the approach, especially here in Kai Tak at night when the runway lightings are quite dim.

it seems that 3.2.3 causes some sharp FPS drops (from around 40 to as low as 15) when you view in 3rd person at certain angles. It's strange because using showcase for the same view doesn't trigger the same FPS drop, and sometimes after a while you go back to the same angle in 3rd person and it no longer drops FPS.

But when it does, it really drops, a lot.

This scenery is absolutely gorgeous and of a payware quality.

It's perfectly compatible with "Hong Kong" city by FreakyD and "Hong Kong Port" by superspud.

No performance issues whatsoever. All navaids (ILS, VOR, etc.) works fine.

The only minor (and known) nuisance are the cars crossing the runway, but it's not the author's fault.

This is a wonderful scenery. Unfortunately my installation of Kai Tak become non towered after SU10/WU10. I have reinstalled MSFS at SU10. How can this be fixed?

The enhanced level of detail and textures in the latest versions is fabulous. 😊

Does anyone know how I can get AI traffic here? I use AIG and it works correctly on VHHH and others.

Hellloo!!! Just wanted to give my 5-star rating for this. Have been using this for a year now. This is hands down the best airport you can find for the legendary aerodrome, freeware or payware. Simply the best!

BTW - There is a mod on flightsim.to which successfully removes cars for me, all the time on every flight. It's worth it for all of you to check out. Maybe the dev can pin this link or something, it's an amazing fix by "KAZE" (check out his amazingly crafted Japanese sceneries and airports) - https://flightsim.to/file/21535/hong-kong-kai-tak-airport-cars-removal

    Mistakes were made!!!!

    Unfortunately in the last version update I forgot to code in the ILS for both approaches (13/31) correctly.

    Sorry if you have already downloaded the update from the 4th Oct, but this version should fix all those issues.
