"The snowiest place in Alaska" - Thompson Pass is a year-round challenge for all pilots. The pass is only a few miles east of Valdez, Alaska, and despite its close proximity to the Pacific, the airstrip sits at around 2,600+ feet with steep terrain closeby. Scrub and low brush mostly prevails as the climate is harsh and dynamic with each season.
ICAO: K55
This scenery contains my first custom objects, removal and replacment of the default runway to match the real strip, terrain and road touchups for the entire valley and strip, as well as objects placed throughout the entire pass. Like the actual pass, you'll also see a lot of light posts and yellow markers to guide drivers through the snowy pass and can lead you to the airstrip, and can serve as reference points if the visibility deteriorates.
Required Libraries:
Known bugs:
-The game says the runway is concrete despite it being changed. Despite this bug, the runway now acts as gravel.
- Deep terrain hole on other side of mountains north of the pass at quarry to get smoothed out in update.

This is an absolutely fantastic scenery addon. This scenery makes the area feel "lived in", it feels and looks like the photo's I've seen of other similar northern Alaska towns and villages. I especially like the addition of the hydro poles and light stands as they give a great perspective of the surrounding mountains and wilderness. Awesome work!

Thanks for this one. Used the CC-NX as well and it was perfect for this strip.

This brought back memories!!!! The first time I went through Thompson Pass in the mid 1970's the power pole crossbeams were sticking out of the snow "wall"!!! Lived in Valdez for a while; then back to Fairbanks. Thanks for your work and contribution!

Looks cool, just from that one screenshot near the campsite though looks like you have low-poly traffic cars parked nearby. There are better static car models available if you search for "car" in the libraries

Thanks, maybe I will texture and import better versions of a real white-pickup myself next upload rather than relying on dependencies. Either way I just chose that truck since, in my experience, white pickups are everywhere in Alaska. The other cars in MSFS look like 2WD sedans or European utility vans, neither of which I felt fitting in the real setting.

Looks amazing. It is a great thing for the new CC NX. Just did a short flight with it from PACO to the K55

Thanks Usatix, the CC NX is a great choice. I've been loving the visibility when taxing. I did my test flight for the scenery in the PC-6 and it was a beautiful all the way there.
