City of Honolulu, Pearl Harbor and surronding area are covered by photogrammetry (LOD 19 ~ 20) scenery imported from google earth. Waikiki area, Honolulu downtown/Harbor area and Pearl Harbor are covered by LOD20. This scenery was optimized for better FPS and faster scenery loading...

This scenery was optimized for better FPS and faster scenery loading using optimiziation and tiles baking techniques. It should be FPS friendly on Mid/High end PC.

V2.1 Installation:

(a) If you never installed this mod before, then download all 6 files (Part1 to 6) and extract them into your MSFS 2020 community folder.

(b) If you are updating this mod from v2.0 to v2.1, then remove only Part3 v2.0 from your community folder, then download Part3 v2.1 and extract it into your MSFS 2020 community folder.

Carrier Ops - USS Enterprise (PZ61) https://flightsim.to/file/24323/carrier-ops-uss-enterprise made by PBK is required in order to see the carriers and battle ships in the harbor.

(I tried messaging the dev here on Flightsim.to but haven't heard back)

I live on the Island of O'ahu, 1.2nm to the south east of rwy 04 at PHNG. I served on the base as a Marine from 1991-1994, and I live right outside the front gate. I was SO happy to (finally slow down and read) that your scenery includes PHNG! Things like

Pu'u Hawai'i Loa (Kansas Tower), all the new construction just east (or Diamond Head in local parlance) of the runway, and then there was that odd many story building in base housing that just doesn't exist. 😀 Anyway, your work on the Mokapu Peninsula that is the home to Marine Corps Base Hawai'i and the Marine Corps Air Station at Kāneʻohe Bay are MOST appreciated!

I am very familiar with the base, having walked and driven all over it as a young Military Policeman / K-9 handler. Did you know if you hit the runway crossing from the east side at roughly 70mph you will catch air in your car? 😉 I mean, theoretically of course. Nobody would believe that a young, impressionable Marine with nothing to do all night would do that.

I took a video of me flying around PHNG. Approaching from the north, you can see drops in the FPS (upper left corner) as I arrive. It's just under 12 min.

I do not know how to install this. Using Package Manager for MSFS, it has not finished loading in 35 hours. No readme file included to stipulate how to install.

Not a veteran on this but scoured other sources trying to figure this out but after 3 days...

Anyone mind sharing that info so I can give this a shot???

I live on O'ahu, and I LOVE your Honolulu scenery! Thank you for all the work you've put in. It's definitely on my recommended list for Hawai'i things in MSFS.

Quick question - PHNP / NPS / Ford Island Naval Auxiliary Landing Field Airport in Pearl Harbor - I tried to start a flight there a bit ago in one of the parking spots (the most northern one down on the south-east side of the island), and my aircraft was on the tarmac, but then there was a layer of terrain above it. I re-started the flight on runway 04, and it was too bumpy to take off.

I then went into my addons linker and disabled all of the Honolulu scenery, and when I loaded back in to runway 04, it was fine.

I’m not 100% up to speed on scenery design and such, but am I correct that it could be a (terrain? Elevation?) mask that needs to be applied to the apron and runway? Is that something you could check?

Hey Steveli, first I have to say thank you for the great work! I have a small problem I have run out of ideas to correct. When I use the latest part 3 there is no elevation data for the waikiki, diamond head and along foot of the ko'olau range. First thing ya notice is diamond head is flat (kinda interesting looking 😊. I decided to delete all files then unzip from a fresh download. Then removed all my community addons. No change. So I put back the previous version part 3 and the elevation data came back.

Sorry I can not duplicate what happen yesterday. Of course the good news is everything works great. No matter what I do, including just overwriting instead of clean install it all works fine. Really wanted to know what it was I did so could at least share. Oh well, sorry to waste your time. Hope ya have a good day Steveli, and again - thank you for your work.

This package keeps looking better and better. I do wish it had a more accurate PHNL but this works just fine. Interestingly, on my first flight, I flew to Kaneohe/MCB-Hawaii and found a few static airliners on top of the Super Stallion helicopters and P-3 Orion's but on my second flight there were hardly any static airliners and none were on Super Stallions or the P-3's. Are static aircraft just random and is there to exclude them from the MCB-Hawaii? Still, Your work is awsome and thank you for a wonderful package.

It's difficult to assess a scenery when you cant get you plane out of the airport due to the state of the ground at the airport. For an 8gb download this really needs to be a lot better.

Even after removing the PHNL folder the ground is still all over the place.

By removing Part6, the PHNL looks good as default. Not sure what do you mean of "the ground is still all over the place".

Your part 6 overlaps the LOD files for Honolulu. So even removing 6 means that if you're trying to use the reef runway, JBPHH, or park at the inter-island terminal you have to deal with ground of differing elevations. You can even see it in your screenshots (#21) where your Nepal Airways plane is headed straight for what looks like a 1-foot jump in the ground.

Like I said, I'd prob rate this a lot higher if I had the chance to actually see it - but after spending 30 mins starting up, putting flight plans in the FMC, pushing back, etc. and then realizing I can't taxi because there is a 9 foot slope in the taxiway, I'm then thinking this isn't 5 star scenery. Sorry.

I totally don't understand what you are talking about. Please post a couple of screenshots to show the problem. You can easily start your flight at PHNL on RWY 8L. Not sure why you say "can not see it". Also, what is JBPHH?. If it's not a 5 start mod, then it is definitely not a 0.5 start mod either. Please respect other people's hard working.

Look at how the plane looks as if it's slanting downhill while the next segment of taxiway is elevated about a foot and the textures wrap over the edges where it meets some blank spot.

I removed PHNL because I'm not a fan of seeing photogrammetry when taxiing around airports, but the city looks great. Not sure what else I'm missing by omitting part 6, but it'd be cool if you could break the airports out into their own files in a future update for those who want everything BUT them.

Also, the files add a couple of static Asobo AI planes around PHNL. Could you please either remove those, or put them in a separate file? I use an AI traffic add-on, so those generic planes/liveries really stick out.

I have to change my review. The mod is waaay too large and significantly halves your framerates. I have an RTX3080 and performance in Honolulu with this mod is horrendous. I also simply cannot start at ANY parking or gate with a plane without having a CGI plane in the exact same spot overlaid on my plane. It's maddening. Had to remove it and go back to the other users Waikiki only mod.

Question - what area does part two cover? I have no problems with the other parts, but including #2 is causing FS2020 to lock up. Wondering if I have a nearby scenery that's causing a conflict...

I tracked the problem down to a conflict with Taburet's Hawaii 10M Mesh addon (https://secure.simmarket.com/taburet-hawaii-10-m-dem-1.2-msfs.phtml ). Disabling either this addon or Honolulu part 2 stops the crashing from occurring. Strange thing is I don't recall this being an issue with previous Honolulu versions.

Being that the 10M mesh may be a fairly popular addon you may want to look into this.
