Antarctica Research Stations
In this series of flights we are visiting 12 Research Stations in Antarctica; taking off and landing on snow airstrips.
On Earth there are still many things to be discovered and many places are not yet fully explored. So is Antarctica, one of the most remote, inhospitable and mysterious locations on Earth; an icy desert that has yet to be fully discovered.
There are 5 separate bushtrips in coastal areas of Antarctica. I've created 12 fictional simple snow airstrips (with fictional ICAO) bringing some snow fun to these bushtrips. Because of the unexplored wilderness of this vast continent, the waypoints comments are limited to the visited research stations and to some facts about Antarctica.
The main goal of the trips is sight seeing. The airplane is the Cessna Skyhawk G1000 Skis Asobo with assistance settings set to easy (some of these can be changed). There are also icons that show the way to get to the waypoints and final destination.
Seven languages are included : English, French, German, Dutch, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish. The translations were made with google translate and are not linguistically corrected. They are to be taken for what they are.
Flightbooks (pdf) only in English language are included separately.
Installation :
- unzip the Antarctica Research Stations.zip file
- there are 3 folders in the unzipped file :
1) the folder "Antarctica Research Stations Bush trips" with 5 folders in it - put all 5 folders in your community folder
2) the folder "Antarctica airstrips pack" with 1 folder in it - put this folder also in your community folder
3) the folder "Flightbooks" with the flightbooks in pdf format (this folder may not be put in the community folder - place the flightbooks folder, for example, in your documents folder).
Thanks to BuffyGC for the BushTripInjector tool and to Alexander Barthel for 'Little Nav Map'.
If you want the possibility to choose the plane, the weather, the time of day and the season (and some other goodies), then you should take a look at the experimental program - MissionChanger - also created by BuffyGC.
****MINOR UPDATE 15/04/2023****
This is a minor update - it is a revision of the waypoint comments. The general direction to follow to reach a waypoint is now stated at the beginning of the appropriate waypoint comments.
