Kuvaus
William Northern Field, Tullahoma, Tennessee, was an Army Air Corp training base during WW II. It is owned by the city of Tullahoma and has been recognized as one of the five best regional airports in Tennessee. Adjacent to the airport is the Beechcraft Heritage museum which exhibits more than 35 Beech aircraft, including the first Beech Staggerwing. The Beech connection with Tullahoma is that Walter Beech was a native Tennesseean born not far from Tullahoma.
SOME ADDITIONAL INFO TO CONSIDER
The Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC)is also located in Tullahoma. AEDC operates more than 68 aerodynamic and propulsion wind tunnels, rocket and turbine engine test cells, environmental chambers, arc heaters, ballistic ranges, sled tracks, centrifuges and other specialized units. It offers a suite of test capabilities to simulate speed, temperature, pressure and other parameters over a wide range to meet the needs of aerospace system developers. Facilities can simulate flight conditions from sea level to 300 miles and from subsonic velocities to Mach 20.
In addition, the University of Tennessee Space Institute is located in Tullahoma. It would be great to incorporate these facilities into the build.
I would be willing to assist in gathering info/pictures if required.
